That XtremeGear XG-H800 represents some of the "garbage" power supplies that are out there.

EVGA Supernova 750 G2 (220-G2-0750-XR), if you're willing to wait...
The Sapphire TOXIC R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 is a heavily factory overclocked card. Sapphire's website states that a 750 Watt power supply with at least two150 Watt 8-pin PCI Express power connectors is recommended. The maximum power draw of that card model is 360 Watts. More importantly the power supply should have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 45 Amps or greater.

What is your power supply budget range?

I currently have an Extreme Gear XG-H800 800w. I dont know if that is a good enough PSU though.
My budget would probably be around a $100.

Tom's charts are referring to an AMD Reference Design Radeon R9 280X card.

The Sapphire TOXIC R9 280X is not a reference design card.

Where's the link to Tom's Hardware's actual review of that card? I don't trust a chart that just shows a value.

ht4u.net's review of the Sapphire TOXIC R9 280X graphics only (i.e. only the power drawn through the graphics card's PCI-E X16 slot and the PCI-E power cables) shows a maximum power draw of 360.62 Watts.

reviewstudio.net's review measured a maximum power consumption of 373.2 Watts for the graphics card only.

The presence of two 150-Watt 8-pin PCI Express power connectors on the card indicates a maximum theoretical power draw of 375 Watts.

If the card's maximum power draw were really 264 Watts, as that Tom's chart shows, then the card would only need one 75-Watt 6-pin and one 150-Watt 8-pin PCI Express power connectors.

You're wrong.

The reviews I quoted are measured through the +3.3V and +12V power lines of graphics card's PCI-E X16 slot and the +12V power lines of the PCI-E power cables. It is strictly the graphics card's maximum DC power consumption. Not the useless system AC power consumption value that most graphics card reviewers quote.

I see other maximum power draw values for cards in that Tom's chart that don't match reality either.

The hardware.fr article only measures maximum power consumption reached during gaming. That's definitely not the card's maximum power consumption since the Sapphire TOXIC R9 280X isn't even on there.

Guru3D doesn't run FurMark stability testing anymore to determine the card's maximum power consumption. They also don't have the proper equipment to measure the graphics card's power consumption. The Sapphire TOXIC R9 280X isn't even any of their reviews.

AnandTech's FurMark power measurement is the only one that shows that the Sapphire TOXIC R9 280X card is drawing over 370 Watts once you deduct the power consumption of the other components and take into account the Corsair AX1200i's conversion efficiency at 469 Watts AC power draw.

Use TechPowerUp.com's reviews to see maximum power consumption "... we measured the power consumption of the graphics card via the PCI-Express power connector(s) and PCI-Express bus slot only.".

You are probably talking about this bench :

Metro LL is already a heavy game, I dont believe that gamers will run Furmark instead playing
And this bench shows the very OC'eed R9 280X consumption at boost clock (1150 Mhz, 1.263v) according to the review

And for this bench :

I don't believe that a simple R9 280X will match a GTX 690 in power comsuption, do you agree ?

I think that they accidentely intervert between a GTX Titan at only 263W (which is strange :heink:) with the MSI R9 280X
