what quad core cpus are capable with my hardware?

What cpus are capable with my hardware? I only want a quad core CPU that is above 2.5 GHz!

my mother board is a Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2
my graphics card is a AMD Radeon R7 240 2 GB
i have 8GB of ram
and my current cpu is AMD FM2 A6 6400K 3.9ghz Dual Core which has built in graphics that i dont use.

I believe the AMD A10 6800K is the best cpu for that socket, but I WOULD RECOMMEND you upgrade your cpu and gpu soon.

That's fm2 and it supports fm2+ cpus. The best value would be the 860k.

Oh I didn't see that, Thanks. I would still recommend upgrading those parts though, if its possible. If you need any help on that, there are many forums and questions talking about parts and upgrades, and you can ask too.

I'm just curious but why didn't you run dual graphic with your APU and GPU? I think AMD APU and GPU can do that...

Your motherboard supports FM2+ socket. This socket can take the following chips which are within your criteria:
A10-8750, A10-7870K, A10-7850K, A10-7800, A10-7700K, A8-8650, A8-7670K, A8-7650K, A8-7600, Athlon X4 860K, Athlon X4 840, A10-6800K, A10-6790K, A10-6700T , A10-6700, A10-5800K, A10-5700, A8-6600K, A8-6500, A8-5600K, A8-5500, Athlon X4 760K, Athlon X4 750K, Athlon X4 750, Athlon X4 740 and Athlon X4 730.

Some CPUs might require that you upgrade your BIOS aswell. Best CPU from the bunch is A10-7870K (with on-board graphics) or Athlon X4 860K (without on-board graphics).

I would recommend some Athlon X4's like the 860k, 740, 730, etc. Also you should upgrade to an AM3+ if you want to stay with AMD. If you get a new motherboard its only about 50-70 dollars for an AM3+ motherboard. If you get that then you can get the 6 core FX-6300 or the 8 core FX-8350.
