[SOLVED] What ram can i put in my dell inspiron 620?

Right now i am using a dell inspiron 620 with 2x2 gb 1333mhz ram and an i 3 2100 cpu. I want to upgrade to 8(2x4) gb ram, but i dont know what i should do. Dell and intel says to use 1333 mhz ram only, but crucial recommends me to use 1600mhz ram(PC3-12800) . Can anyone tell me what to do?

All other things being equal, faster RAM (1600 MHz) may be able to be installed but that RAM will only run at supported (lower) speeds.

I.e., 1333 MHz.

Try to identify the specific motherboard in your Dell Inspiron 620: version, serial number, etc..

Check a couple of other RAM manufacturers: Kingston, PNY, Samsung.

See what their configuration guidelines suggest.

Details matter so read any fine print and footnotes.

For the most part you will need to abide by Dell/Intel's criteria.
