Hi to everybody,

I would be grateful for some assistance in relation to identifying what sort of RAM I need to purchase.

I have a ‘second’ PC used by family members who complain that it is very slow.

It is a HP All-in-one 24 F0xx. It has 4Gb of installed RAM. Processor is Core i3 8th gen.

I tried to get the memory identified using the scanner on the Crucial website and also the Dr. Memory website. Neither could identify the RAM

I installed ‘Speccy’ and I have copied the relevant parts of the report below.

I want to upgrade the installed memory to 16Gb.

I would appreciate your advice.

Thank you.

Mark

As a quick assessment it is very likely that the HP All-in-one 24 F0xx does not have have sufficient memory.

However, there could be other things involved: insufficient disk space being one of them. If available disk space is low then little or no room for virtual memory....

Update your post to include full system specs for the All-in-one.

What you need to do is to identify the installed motherboard.

Then go to HP or other websites to find the applicable User Guide/Manual.

The manual should provide some listing of supported RAM and RAM configurations. The document will likely also refer you to the motherboard's manufacturer's website for updated information.

And you can also go to the various RAM manufacturer's websites and use the motherboard information to search for supported RAM. Look for a consensus regarding any cited RAM specs.

Hopefully the HP All-in-one 24 F0xx will support 16GB: maybe a matched set 2 x 8 GB.

More needs to be known....

Thank you Ralston18

The full 'spec' is below. From your advice, I have looked up the motherboard (HP Tuscany R 84DE) and it appears that it can accomodate 2 x 8Gb of DDR4 SODIMM 260 pin.
