Hey so im from the UK and i recently got into making my computer, so i have a MSI 970 Gaming mobo and im thinking to get a 16gb RAM on it. But im really conscious in what i should get cause i know you have to get the right one for it to work.

I dont want to spend like crazy but i do want a 16gb Ram that is atleast £100 and is compatible!

So can anyone help?

My set up is
Mobo - Msi 970 Gaming
GPU - Asus GTX 750 Ti
CPU - AMD FX 8350 8 Core
OS - Windows 10

What matters for compatibility is that it is ddr3 and not the sodimm type. Also, you will not get any more fps gaming with 16gb vs 8gb. Having higher speed ddr3 will not increase fps much for the amount you spend so getting 1600mhz is ideal. The ram must not be ecc though. Dual channel is a little faster, and the same cost by the way.

8gb: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Elite-Team-Group-8GB-2x4GB-PC-Memory-DDR3-1600MHZ-Dual-Channel-Kit-/331780747182?hash=item4d3fac6fae:g:DiMAAOSwUuFWxI88

for the unnecessary 16gb: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Crucial-16GB-2X8GB-Dual-Channel-DDR3-1600MHz-PC3-12800-DIMM-Desktop-/222058147624?hash=item33b3b26f28:g:SgkAAOSwwpdW7JHO

The ram is not really so much for gaming but for my creative side of using my Adobe CC so I can run many applications at the same time! You think 16gb is to much as I'm using 8gb ram and it feels like it wants to freeze most the time with 2 applications!

Thanks for getting in touch too :)

No idea what your present difficulty is, since you don't list what memory you have. You also have BIOS settings for memory.

You can run 1866MHz memory with an FX CPU without overclocking with one DIMM per channel or 160MHz with two DIMMs per channel. The Msi 970 Gaming is a dual channel mortherboard.

In a nut shell, we are all telling you that dual channel is good for ram, and that as long as you don't buy ecc or generic Chinese RAM you will be fine with whatever you buy. I do recommend the hyper x fury ram posted by Calvin7. How else can we help you?
