I just purchased a b350 msi tomahawk and a ryzen 5 1600 processor..now mu problem is what ram to get..i got my eyes on the xpg dazzle 2 8gb sticks 2400mhz or the corsair vengeance led 2666 2 8gb sticks..kinda scared it might not be compatible to my board..help

Ryzen performs better with high speed memory. I dunno how far you can overclock ur ram. If you can push that 2666 ram to 2933, that would be great.

Just check in YouTube if someone has successfully overclocked that particular model of ram to higher speeds. If you can't overclock it, better get a rated high speed memory.

Nope not true. I have the MSI X370 Gaming Plus and can't get my ram over 2666mhz at the moment. Haven't tried all options yet, like upping voltage on the SOC,but just enabling A-XMP sometimes still doesn't cut it.
Guess these are as mine made with Hynix chips which still can give problems. Not saying they should, but saying all is fixed just isn't right.
My ram,

F4-3200C16D-16GVKB

Yeah, those G.Skill are Samsung b dies. Works at 3200mhz.

There was a reddit like post that detailed the chips used in the ram models when ryzen was first released. I don't have the website bookmarked now but I remember the 3200 ripjaws cas 15 are Samsung b die. A lot of discussion happened during the ryzen launch if you remember about this same ram compatibility issue.

Not entirely 😉,the "Red" linked are from what i remember on the QVL of my motherboard, but somehow this black version i have just don't work on my board which just may be my combination of my cpu+ram+motherboard and maybe would just work fine for the OP.
It could well be 50/50% chance at the moment. Mine do work fine at 2666mhz with 14-14-14-30 timings at 1.30V (stil want to see if i can at least lower that) at the moment and maybe a new bios update will change things again.:)
