I have an old PC which I'm using while my new parts arrive, and I also want to turn this into a usable 'second' computer, to browse the web, do text and other light work on.

I have a Pentium Dual Core E2160 CPU and an MSI 0A90 mother board.

I need more RAM for this thing, and I'd like to buy some cheap second-hand sticks, but I don't
know what I can fit. What will the CPU support? And the mobo?

I know it has to be DDR2 and that 2x2 GB is the max amount, but what frequency etc.?

Also, if I add a small SSD on this rig, this should be able to run Win7, Internet Explorer, Word and the like just fine, right?

Also, what would be the most powerful CPU that works on this LGA 775 mobo?

RAM:

According to : http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/MSI/MSI_0A90/1359
DDR2 533 MHz
DDR2 667 MHz

Best CPU:http://www.pc-specs.com/cpu/Intel/Core_2_Quad/Core_2_Quad_Q9650_3.0GHz/18
Priced For ~290$:http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-at80569pj080n

So do NOT buy it coz its not worth it.. instead buy the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 = 96$

As for the SSD, if Win' 7 is installed there should be no problem.
If you want to buy an SSD, the Site above is your best bet.

For any other questions don't hesitate :)

Thanks guys!

I could also get a E8400 for 20$ and I'm wondering if that would be money well spent. My mobo can only take 4 GB of RAM.

If I do get the E8400, that will support some faster memory too, right?

EDIT: I see that the mobo might have support limitations for CPUs: http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/msi-0a90-cpu-support-list/
...is that true? No support for Quads or the newer dual cores?
