what rams do i use for my Intel (R) Core(TM) 2 duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHZ

Just to expand a bit on mlga91's comments, your motherboard will have a maximum memory limit based on it's own chipset (memory controller) and the number of memory slots it has. Additionally, you may have noticed that some operating systems (OS) come in 32-bit and 64-bit flavors. Regardless of what the motherboard can accept, a 32-bit operating system can only address up to 4GB total of memory. 64-bit operating systems can theoretically handle much more memory, but current operating systems cannot utilize more than 64 or 128GB of RAM (not sure which). Of course, most systems do not require more than 8GB or 16GB of RAM installed.

I am using windows 7 and it is 64 bit version with 4 slots. I have 2GB of memory and would like to have at least 8 or 12 GB. Not sure if it is DDR 2 in there now. I can take that out and replace it with the appropriate type of rams.

Search your motherboard on google type the (motherboard nomenclature) PDF Manual or go to the "manufacturer webite (highly recommend this option) and download the manual." It will list all compatible RAM and the max RAM including the proper slots to put the RAM in to properly use your multi-channel memory. With 4 slots I don't see why you cannot add more. The issue becomes very simple how much the motherboard support and what type/speed? If it's DDR2 then only DDR2 can be used. Then you need to find out what speeds it works with some speeds for examply my Ramapage IV Extreme Asus mobo only takes 1866MHz DDR3 in order to use 2133MHz RAM I need to Overclock. So those are things to really know about your mobo. Check your manual save some time/money/pain!
