I have decided to use my sata docking station for attaching an internal sata drive for my backups.
Esata to esata should be faster than a usb3, but having problems with a drive to buy. I need a 2 tb unit and the wd's and Seagate seem to have changed to smr instead of the cmr type. Which I'm told drastically slows them down.
Can someone please help me out with a good reliable data drive to purchase? Was originally looking at wd red and seagate ironwolf, but it seems they have gotten cheap. Any help here is appreciated ! Just hate slow data movement ... especially when moving a tb.

Still, even with one of those, they have gotten cheaper , slower, more unreliable. That was a reason I was going to use an internal type drive. So the question still remains... what drive ?

Have you considered a 2.5 ssd?
They have no moving parts to fail and will move data much faster than a hdd.
