Right, I have a budget of £300-£400 and I am looking to upgrade My PC I got last year. I am debating weather to go for A knew GPU like the GTX 660ti /670/Ati Radeon 7950/Ati Radeon 7970 or Weather it is worth getting a new CPU and mobo (Intel i7 3770k/3820 (I remember someone saying that the next gen intel CPUs are moving to sandybridge-E So it will make sense to go for the 3820)). I am currently using an AMD FX 4100 at stock speed with and Ati Radeon 6670 at stock speed. I plan to play games like BF3, Farcry 3 and other fps titles like that. I am completely clueless because some people are saying go for a GPU but others are saying that I would get a huge bottleneck with my current specs that it will be more worth getting a complete overhaul of the system. Cheers in advance Ohh yeah and I am planning on doing some editing HD vids and 3D modeling

Your processor will be good enough to old it until the new gen graphic cards (Geforce 7xx, Ati 8xxx). It's only a quadcore but it's a great one so you won't be having any problems. For the graphic card, go for Amd. I have a GTX 660Ti and i would get a 7950 if i had the chance because it dosen't run great with anti aliasing. In your case, your processor would be bottlenecking a 7950 so go for a 7870 unless your are going to overclock more than 1GHz. If you plan on overclocking it a lot, get that 7950. When the new cards come out, get a FX-8350 with a better graphics card.

Cheers for the quick replies guys 😉 I was looking a bit more in depth and I think i have a solution. I will wait until Q3 of 2013 which is when i plan to do my upgrade and see what there is on the market. I may get a new cpu and gpu at the same time as if i wait i can increase my budget a tad. how does that sound?

Depends on how much you will be able to put on the table. If you can have around 1000£, build a great gaming machine from scratch. Haswell will be out i guess and the next-gen graphic cards too so you will have something solid in your hands.

My budget will be round 500-600 pounds at that point so I am thinking 3570k/3770k with a new PSU and either a ''770''/''8970'' (Provided they even get released).

My current budget is £200. Next payday in a month now so I cannot go any higher.

Thanks

With that budget (500-600) you should go for Haswell with a new mobo (Haswell will be released on a new socket) + some ram (i guess ddr4 will be out at that moment, maybe not) and a good power supply (50-75 pounds). With the rest, get the best graphics card you can.
