I just got an AMD 1800+, 256mb of DDRam on an ECS5A (the motherboard runs perfect(!!!), and I read a lot of bad things about it..never had a problem...)..anyway....my RivaTNT2 Ultra with 32 mb of ram gets quite old now. So i decided to get a new VideoCard...but...what should i get ? a GF4 ti 4400 or an ATI8500 (see prices also..:))?
you ppl out there who already own this things..what do u think about this?

If it works, don't fix it.

geforce 4 ti 4400 definatly... if you have the dough.. if not, go for a retail 128 MB ATI Radeon 8500.... as fo what brand of ti4400, i'm not sure what options you're looking for...

Forget ATI.

If you are short on cash, get a GF 4 Ti 4200 (not 4400). If you are a framerate freak and have the money, get a 4600. I wouldn't bother with the Radeons. A 4200 (and even a GF 3 Ti 500) are superior to them. You can check some of the benchmarks here on Toms.

I'd recommend LeadTek. If you can't find one of those, GainWard or Inno3D.

Beerstore,
Quite a choice there, there are advantages to both cards. The Radeon 8500 retail has better image quality than the TI4400 and has a couple features like trueform that spiff up older games a little bit. On the other hand, the TI4400 is only sliiiiightly behind in 3d image quality and is quite a bit faster in newer games. The 4400's can be had with TV In/Out and dual monitor support the easiest. Overall, if your into games, i highly recommend the TI4400, if your not heavily into games i'd recommend the R8500 if you just have to have a great card.

On the other hand, I use the TI4600, and its clearly superior to either of those cards in pretty much EVERY way. A good 4600 has superior visual quality due to better quality parts and production than the 4400's which puts it at the head of the pack.

dunno what brand of 4400 to recommend, if you were to a 4600 it'd be hands down visiontek.

If you want a card with 128 MB of ram and are on a budget, get an ATI built 8500 card (The 8500LE is nice and OCable). If you don't mind sticking with 64 MB of ram, get the TI4200 64. Don't get the 4200 128, as it's slower than the 64. If you have the money, go for the 4400 or 4600.

I have an ATI 8500 and love it. You realy can't go wrong with it.

I wouldn't even look at the R8500 128MB right now. Since the Ti4200 beats it pretty easily, and they cost about the same. The R8500LE 128MB is a much better deal right now. Especially since the ATi Retail has 3.3ns RAM, same as the R8500 128MB. If you're looking at any Ti4200 128MB, I'd tell you to look at the Ti4400. They aren't that much more expensive.
