Question What should be my focus to upgrade first? For gaming.

Just wanting opinions on what to upgrade first to get more fps. I game and play just about everything. With warzone taking up most of that. As of now I can squeeze about 65 fps on high settings. Would like to push that as high as possible without really breaking the bank. Any input would help.

Specs:
I7 7700 non k cpu
Asrock b250m pro4 motherboard
64gb Ballistix 2666mhz ram
Zotac 1060 6gb gpu
Corsair cv650 psu

What country are you located, what is your monitor resolution and what is your budget?

That it is... how about an RX 6600? Would have to save up some money for that PSU, though, but the current one could likely bridge you over a couple months.
Thank you I will look into the rx 6600. However I may buy psu (wasn't happy from the start with it) Then hopefully over the next few months gpu prices drop some more

My stock approach to this perennial question:

Some games are graphics limited like fast action shooters.
Others are cpu core speed limited like strategy, sims, and mmo.
Multiplayer tends to like many threads.

You need to find out which.
------------------------------------------------------------
To help clarify your CPU/GPU options, run these two tests:

a) Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

b) Limit your cpu, either by reducing the OC, or, in windows power management, limit the maximum cpu% to something like 70%.
Go to control panel/power options/change plan settings/change advanced power settings/processor power management/maximum processor state/
This will simulate what a lack of cpu power will do.
Conversely what a 30% improvement in core speed might do.

You should also experiment with removing one or more cores/threads. You can do this in the windows msconfig boot advanced options option.
You will need to reboot for the change to take effect. Set the number of threads to less than you have.
This will tell you how sensitive your games are to the benefits of many threads.
If you see little difference, your game does not need all the threads you have.

It is possible that both tests are positive, indicating that you have a well balanced system,
and both cpu and gpu need to be upgraded to get better gaming FPS.
-------------------------------------------------------------

You have a crazy amount of ram.
Is there a reason for 64gb?

With a $400 budget for a cpu upgrade,
I think you can find a 12th gen i3-12400 processor for $210 and a B660 DDR4 motherboard for $150.
Here is a review of the 12400:

If you need a graphics card upgrade, good luck and patience.
Prices are getting better, and intel may well shake up the market soon.
A significant upgrade of the 1060 would be to at least a RTX3050 class card.
That might fit your budget.
Anything stronger, and you may also be looking at a psu upgrade.

The RTX 3050 is a terrible buy. The RX 6600 is faster, and often priced similar.

If you want to push your fps up in Warzone I suggest doing a test. Drop the resolution to 720p. If fps stays similar you are most likely cpu limited at the moment and a gpu upgrade probably won’t return better fps.

Their CPU should be fine, compared to the current GPU. As you can see here, 4c/8t is still plenty.

An RX 6600 is similar to RTX 2060 performance. As you can see here, and RTX 2060 still has less FPS, than even a 4c/4t chip, with a 2080ti.

I wasn’t sure, hence the test suggestion. Always good to have some stats. I know that game can use 12 threads or it did the last time I tried it.

I'm in America. 144hz monitor and budget is around $400
I see two options. Save up $200 more for a graphics card such as an RTX 3060 and mind you the prices of graphics cards are coming down albeit slowly (550w psu is recommended for that card) or go for a new B660 board + 12400F cpu + a 2x8GB set of DDR4 3200mhz RAM.
