Hi there,

I plan to upgrade or build a new rig in the near future. I currently like to watch videos/films whilst playing a game and also run multiple instances of a game in the background lets say up to 5.

I know memory is an immediate factor to consider and I plan to incorporate 32/64GB for my next build.

Should I be looking at solely core count vs core speed?

I feel core count is what I should be concerned with and I await Ryzen 4000 for Desktop. However, is there anything else for my scenario I should be considering?

Thank you.

Defiantly go with a Ryzen CPU. That type of load will use many cores. Core speed is important, but more cores will help more with what you are doing. Intel usually has higher clocks, but less cores, while Ryzen has lower clocks and more cores. This tends to balance out in most workloads, but with your multi-program usage, the cores Ryzen provides will benefit you more.

When going with Ryzen, remember that RAM speed matters a lot, not just capacity. Make sure to get 3200MHz RAM or higher for best performance.
