What should i choose? intel pentium dual core or pentium 4 HT

so i have a problem stay with the pentium 4 3.06GHz HT 524 or make a free change to intel pentium dual core 1.6Ghz e2140

My Pc Specs:
intel pentium 4 3.06Ghz Ht 524
1.5Gb RAm ddr2 667Mhz
Geforce gt220 1GB
160Gb sata samsung
win 7 ultimate

the pc is used for gaming so will i get more FPS and better performance with dual core or should i stick to pentium 4?

Depends on his mobo what c2d support it wil have, some early 775's didn't support faster E's.

Just between the two processors you list, the E2140 is much more powerful.
Not only is it a true dual core (vs the 524's single core + HT), the architecture is easily twice as efficient on a clock per clock basis.
That is to say, even if it where clocked at less than half the speed of the P4, it would still outperform the P4 in single threaded apps.

not to mention the 2140 is very easy to overclock to get even more power. Either way you dont have what i would consider any kind of gaming computer. In fact, you should remove windows 7 as its choking your PC with only 1.5gb ram. 3gb+ is really needed to get a smooth gaming experience with win7. XP would be a much better option for you. But all in all, for free, take it, it is better than what you have.

all depends if your motherboard will support the E2140

ok so i installed the e2140 but now he computer doesn't even start when i turn it on the fans go crazy (100%) and the screen doesnt show anything well the same as the socket would be empty soo i gues the socket doesnt support the processor but the thing is i am now using a phone soo i have no ability to see what kind o motherboard is has(HP dx2200 mt) (an what it supports)

p.s i have tried reseting the bios by removing the battery and turning the pc off the power source although i got no success 🙁
