Hi, My computer died a while back. It was 10 years old. So I started gathering parts to build a new one without knowing about the video card prices. I have been out of the loop a bit because life happens. I do want to play games again and want a descent system. The parts I have already are listed below. I wanted to get a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU but held off after I found out about the gpu crisis. So my question is would my old Geoforce gts450 gpu work with these parts until the prices come down or would a CPU with integrated graphics be a better option? I really dont want to buy a lesser CPU and then buy a better one down the road when gpu prices come down. Or is there a descent gpu out there I could get used that is older for not to much money that is better than I have that would work for a while? Any advice is welcomed. Thank you.

Solution
Consider the I5-11400 with integrated UHD730 graphics.
UHD730 is a bit stronger than your GT450.
The non F versions are $10 more
It compares favorably in cpu performance with the 3600.
Here is a review:

You could make a case for the i5-11500 with UHD 750 xe graphics with twice the capability of the 730.

No need for an expensive motherboard.
Most any 500 series chipset will do. I might think the B560 units in matx format would be reasonable.

Normally, intel does not depend on ram speed for performance.
But, if you plan on using the integrated graphics, that changes things and the faster the better for better igpu performance.

Personally i'd use your GT450 untill prices settle, with summer coming prices SHOULD start to dip

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but theoretically the iGPU of something like a Ryzen 5 3600 should have plenty more power than a GT450. Either way you can try both and see how they compare for light gaming.

I would just build up the system as you normally would (minus a new graphics card) and just pop one in when prices start to stabilize again. I think Summer is a bit optimistic personally. Our reps at work are estimating Nov might be more likely.

If you want to buy a used graphics card, I think a GTX750ti is reasonably priced around $100 on ebay.
Other cards with less than 2gb of vram are not useful to miners and sell more reasonably.

Correction needed. Ryzen 5 3600 does NOT have igpu.

UHD750 is only 1/2 to 1/3 of what Intel puts in its Icelake/Tigerlake mobile CPUs and those are barely playable. Not many remotely recent non-trivial games are going to be playable on that.

Anything under 6GB isn't particularly useful to miners since those GPUs can only run one instance of ETH at a time and even 6GB is borderline for that. More desirable GPUs in the 4-6GB range are marked up mainly because everyone who would otherwise want to buy something better currently cannot do so at a remotely reasonable price unless they get lucky with sneaking an order through from a place that sells near MSRP.
