Hey guys. I want to change my graphics card since the current card I have is integrated. I know how to install it into the pc but I am a little confused with the software part. I have seen many people in this forum saying that after they install a new gpu the only get a black screen when their computer boots up. So, do I need to first uninstall the older drivers and disable the integrated gpu, then power off my pc, plug the gpu, plug the monitor into the gpu and then open the pc and install the gpu drivers or should I do something less?
Any help would be really appreciated.

With integrated graphics that aren't in a laptop it's pretty easy.

All you really have to do is go into the BIOS and make sure the Primary Graphics Adapter isn't set to onboard/integrated, the correct setting should be called PCI/PEG, or if there's an auto setting that works too.

Then just power off the computer and put the new graphics card and plug in the monitor cable to it, and you can get by with the windows basic drivers till you download the real drivers.
Yes, when plugging in the new card you will need to keep the video cable plugged into the motherboard and download the new card's drivers. Reboot the pc into the bios then change the primary graphics adapter to your PCIe slot. Plug the video cable to the GPU, Reboot then install the drivers that you downloaded.
