Question What should I do with my old cpu fan?

So I recently bought a new fan for my cpu cooler because my old one was getting too loud when reaching high rpm.

I don't want to throw the old fan away because it's still a solid fan until 1200 RPM.

Now I thougt about 2 options:

or

Like this: (the fan would operate like the bottom fan in the picture and then the airflow of my case would be exactly like this)

What do you guys think is the better option?

Option #4: Build a tiny hovercraft.

As far as your original options go, using it as a case fan would probably be better, assuming you can hook it up so that it operates at a reduced voltage and doesn't run at full-speed, to avoid making a bunch of noise again.

If you tried slapping the old fan on the opposite side of your cooler, it would likely increase noise output, and any benefits to cooling performance would be questionable. It doesn't sound like they are the same model of fan, so they would likely each be pushing a different amount of air.

Is the cooling performance in your system fine as it is? You could just put it into storage for now in case one of your other fans begins to fail at some point.
