Hello There,

I'm getting a Defiance V 17.3" 144hz G-Sync Display Laptop. Here's the link to reconfigure: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/defiancev-17/b5cx337T7t/

The Options are:

CPU: I7-8750H or i7-8850H
GPU: GTX 1060 or GTX 1070
RAM: 1-32GB

If I choose an I7-8850H, I'm forced to choose the GTX 1070 as the motherboard doesn't support this option. My budget is £1,250.
My current cost is £1,241. If I get the GTX 1070 and the I7-8850H, it would cost £1,537. Should I increase my budget? Is it worth it? I usually play games like CS:GO, Rocket League, Far Cry Primal, Far Cry 5, GTA V, VR Games etc..

I would like my laptop to be 'future proof' for any games that come out for a long time. I have added Master Cooler Thermal Paste instead of the standard to get the Laptop to not be as hot. I hope it will also help if it overheats at some point. Should I get a Gaming Laptop Fan/Cooler or however those are called? If yes, can you recommend me one? What should I choose for my Laptop?

The difference between I7-8750H and I7-8850H seems to be really big. Here's the difference: http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-8750H-vs-Intel-Core-i7-8850H/m470418vsm485626
I'm a little worried about the worst bench on the I7-8750H. What is Bench? I'm not very sure about this.

Another question that came up is if I really need it. I go on holiday 2-4 times a year, sometimes 5. When I'm in my house, I'd like to move a lot with it. I already have a Desktop Computer with I7-6700K, GTX 1070 and 16GB RAM and 2 Displays, 1 TN Panel with 144hz and one 60hz IPS. I would like a portable computer to take around which is why I am getting a laptop.

The main question is which Configuration is better than me but if someone could answer the rest, it would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
~ Justin.

The difference between the I7-8750H and I7-8850H isn't that much. It is between 0.2 and 0.4 GHZ for base and turbo mode. But since the performance is less on a laptop, you would notice the difference in performance more.

I would recommend getting the most performance that you can afford. If you don't, you will likely be kicking yourself some time in the future.

Thanks for the answer. But I still don't understand what bench is? What is the difference? If you were buying a Gaming Laptop, would you extend your budget to get a GTX 1070 with I7-8850H? Or remain with the current config? Thanks.

The "bench" is just a test of the components performance. In this case it is a comparison of the CPU base and turbo operating frequencies expressed in GHz. A stress test like Prime 95 is run on the laptop, and the CPU operating frequency is determined.

Yes, I would get the laptop with the GTX 1070. Particularly since you have a desktop with a GTX 1070, I doubt that you will like the lower performance in your laptop.
