So, I made my new PC about half an year ago and I use it mainly for gaming, but on some of the games I play I get low fps, like 30-40 fps. I mostly play MMO and FPS games like PlanetSide 2. When i get in a big fight my fps drops to about 30, but when there is nobody around me i get 60-80fps.

My PC setup is:
>Processor: AMD FX 6300 X6 3.5GHz
>Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-UD3P
>Graphics card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X
>RAM: 6Gb 1333MHz (4Gb + 2Gb)
>HDD: 1Tb WD

I am definitely going to buy 4Gb more RAM, but my question is if there is something else that i need to improve to get stable high fps?

Thanks in advance!

Your Motherboard and CPU is fine for now they are still modern and will work fine if your a hardcore gamer or want to improve graphics i suggest a GTX 970 its a very good gpu that does not cost alot of money at all and have great performance.

It is a good idea to do this, but doesn't the warranty void after I overclock the cpu?

Yes it does, but the processor you have is intended to be overclocked. It is safe to overclock as long as you are within the recommended voltage and temperature for your given processor. There are many guides available on how to overclock, as well as information available about the max temperature and voltage for your given cpu
