so i have a PC with Ryzen 5 1400, STRIX GTX 950 and X370 SLI PLUS. so what should i know before overclocking RAM? is it even safe to do it? i've got 700W Thermaltake PSU if that matters.

1. What speed is your ram rated for? That is your max
2. What is the max oc capability of your motherboard? I think it is 3200.
3. Is your ram even compatible?
Is it on your motherboard qvl list?
Or on the ram vendor's list of approved ram for your motherboard.

RAM with Samsung "B-Die" OCes best, but just to be clear about overclocking it. Usual starting frequency for DDR4 is 2133MHz and anything over that can be considered overclocking. Another one would be overclocking over processor's "natural" IMC frequency, 2933MHz for that processor and all processor of first Ryzen CPUs.
Finally overclocking over RAM's best XMP profile which is most difficult of all. Requires a lot of manual settings. This program http://www.overclock.net/forum/13-amd-general/1640919-ryzen-dram-calculator-1-1-0-beta-2-overclocking-dram-am4.html can help a lot.
