What should I look for when buying ram for Toshiba e55?

I'm trying to upgrade the ram of my new Toshiba E55-A5114 laptop.

Currently, I have 6gb of ram, which is the default amount it comes with. When I checked Crutial.com's System Scanner, it said I could upgrade to as much as 16gb, but their memory seems a little expensive -- $159.99 for this kit.

When I checked on Amazon, there's way too many 16gb kits for laptops and I'm really not sure which ones would be compatible with my laptop model.

Can someone take a look at Amazon's available 16gb ram kits, and tell me which ones are the best choices and be comatible with my Toshiba E55-A5114?

Although I know how to upgrade ram, I just switched from my MacBook pro over to this one. It's been a long time since I've used Windows PCs and could just use a little input so I order the correct ram for this particular model.

Thanks a whole lot! I appreciate any information you can provide me!

I checked out the two 16GB kits Crucial listed and found that the 1600MHz kit is actually a little quicker than the more expensive 1866MHz kit. The timings of each result in a 1.75ns difference (imperceptible to humans) between the two kits and in this case the lower frequency kit has the slight advantage. No noticeable advantage to purchasing the more expensive 1866MHz stuff.
I tried Kingston, Hynix, GSkill, Corsair, AData, Geil, Mushkin and Patriot without any luck in matching up your laptop to (guaranteed) compatible ram, Crucial is looking like it's the only player here (at least for guaranteed compatibility)
Very interesting things found there... here's what Toshiba has to say (Page 45 of the User Manual)
"After starting your computer for the first time you may want
to:
❖ Add more memory (see “Adding memory” on page 45..."
Also on page 45
"Adding memory
Your computer comes with enough memory to run most of
today’s popular applications. Toshiba will not be responsible
for any product damage, data loss, service or part
replacement made necessary by improper installation of a
memory module." and that's all (definitely not much help)

For what I'm finding, the Crucial Ram kit's pricing seems to be in the range I would put you at and guarantees compatibility. I'd be inclined to order from them personally (unless you can find the same kit cheaper through another vendor).

Thank you very much for that info! I'll definitely take a look there!

For anyone else viewing this post, there was an error with one of my links. Here's all of crucial's ram they say is compatible with my e55: http://goo.gl/izlQGv
