What should I set my fan speed update period for ASUS Strix GTX 970 in MSI Afterburner?

I set my custom fan graph for my ASUS Strix GTX 970 in MSI Afterburner as 45°C - 35% duty for fans, 60°C - 45% and then a smooth transition to 80°C up to 65% and 90°C to 95% of fan load.
The default Fan speed update period(in milliseconds) is given to be 5000. Do I change it(if Yes, at what value?) or do I keep it at the default value?
What value do I keep Temperature hysteresis (in degree Celsius) at? Or do I keep it at the default value? (zero)
Do I force fan speed update on each period or not?

To be honest that all depends on your overclock...we don't know what you have done / are planning to do.

At stock, keep it all stock.

Once you start messing with clock speeds...the settings need to be fine tuned depending on what you set.

Also...this is something you need to figure out as you stress test the GPU or have a 3D app (game) open in the background so you get a "live staging environment".

Else you are just guessing

Setting custom graphs is more for OC'ing. When you leave stuff at stock you can customize it to be quieter...anything else is academic as you will almost certainly end up creating more noise than before without a jump in performance.

The fan graph is vital when you play with temp. targets and cards that base performance heavily around that.

My concern is not the fan sound but the GPU temp. which seems to jump to 79 degrees C when I game (& this while playin' Styx, I shudder to think what Mordor will do )... this increases the temp. of the whole PC & you can feel how much it's heated just by touching the cabinet on the outside... the temps. go back to normal when I quit gaming & do other stuff..
Will settin' a GPU temp. target through GPU Tweak help? I somehow thought it'll make the GPU employ more resources than required to maintain that temp. that it should on gamin' performance..
I would LOVE settin' a custom fan curve instead which I think won't hurt even if I choose not to overclock (it won't hurt, will it? Because I'm not sure.. 🙁 )... but I need to know if I can set the default values for fan speed update period & Temp. hysteresis & if I should force fan speed update on each period or not...


Got my answer, but a HUGE thanks for your help & kindness so far, anyway. Choosing yours as the solution.

fan speed update and hysteresis don't needed to be used or changed. Forcing fan speed update is a compatability option that probably isn't needed either. Just set the fan curve on the graph to match the temps you want.
