Hey,

So i built my first PC about 2 years ago now, and was thinking if its time for a part upgrade and if so, which part? Since i have saved up a good amount of money now.

My current PC:

Intel i5-4670k
16GB RAM
5TB HD (4TB+1TB)
128GB SSD
Nvidia GTX 770 2GB GPU
ASRock Z87 EXTREME4 Motherboard
Corsair TX650V2 Enthusiast Series 650W

My dads idea was to upgrade the Ram to 64GB, not sure if thats even possible..he likes big numbers haha.

Any help is greatly appreciated

EDIT: ive had some crash issues with the 770 (overheating im guessing, fixable with replacing the thermal paste?)

No need for more wattage unless you want it for SLI. You really would be wanting to upgrade to a better quality unit over more wattage. A good 650w PSU would be nice. There is no point at all to upgrade to 64GB of RAM unless you are running 5 virtual machines. I have used it in the past and 64GB was 100% useless. I will never do it again. I render videos and do virtual machines and it runs fine at 16 or 32. However your current PSU is while not great but decent. Also your mobo will not support 64GB unless you use non ecc 16GB sticks. If you had X99 or X97 you could have 8x8gb but it is pointless for gaming. GTX 970 Is your best upgrade.

Graphics card is first upgrade maybe a PSU upgrade to a decent 650w.

sorry, didnt check till now.

The airflow in my case is pretty good id say, only a few cables at the bottom, and a good amount of fans. Still overheats when gaming though.

I was checking out the 980 but ill look at the 970 as well, im guessing its better price wise.

Which model should I buy? My current card is from ASUS i believe.

The PC crashed (buzzing sound, while + purple screen, no signal) at around 71c on the gpu. However isnt this not overly high?

So, during one game, the CPU's highest temp was 63c - no crash

Then, the PC crashes when the CPU is cooler, at around 40-50c.

Im assuming its not the CPU as during rendering videos, running at close to 100% (CPU) the PC does not crash.

any idea what causes the crashes?

Power?

EDIT: i was told it was the GPU because of how the crash occurs (screen colour, buzzing sound) maybe not the case after all.

Well. upgrading the PSU is the cheaper option, and may be useful for powering a better graphics card as well.

Think its worth upgrading from a 650w?
