I have a r3 1200 and the games that I like to play is rainbow six siege and fortnite but one of my problems when I play those games my cpu starts to cause bottlenecking especially in rainbow six so I was thinking about upgrading to a r5 2600x but at the same time I still have this 60hz monitor and I was also thinking to upgrade it to 144hz so I really don't know what to upgrade first

What is your GPU first of all, but I would upgrade your CPU first. If you can afford it, a 3600 would be a more viable option rather than the 2600x. Also, if you are getting above 144 fps in R6 already, I would get a 144hz monitor.

Okay so I have a 1050ti overclocked to 1354mhz my avg fps on rainbow is around 120fps but most of the times I get stutters due to cpu and that sometimes drops me to 80 fps or lower and its really noticeable my 1% low is prob like 60 so when I see my cpu percentage is like 90% or up

What's your budget?

What are you seeing for fps currently? What makes you think you have a bottleneck? What are the rest of your specs?

If you play online get at least a 6 core or an 8 core if you play BFV 64 player. Best budget CPU is 3600 6 cores but if you want faster there is the 8 cores 3700X/3800X.

btw You posted your message 3 times in a row, you can delete them in thread options.

I would get the 2600x before I got a 144hz monitor. The 3.4ghz boost of the 1200 is low and games like fortnite and RB6S will actually use more than 4 threads.

A 4 core 4 thread CPU is simply not enough in 2020 and beyond.

CPU should be your first upgrade. Luckily, AMD is still pumping out CPU's for the AM4 socket. Just make sure you update your bios first to the latest.

If you look at cost per frame. Then the plain 2600 are the best budget cpu.Yes the 2600x is a lot faster.but with good airflow case and a better cooler the 2600 can match the 2600x.I actually did the test my cpu started at 1275 cb in cinebench R15.I ended at 1410 cb score.

It all depends on the gpu though.Hardware unbox did a video couple days ago he speaks about the pro's and cons about 3600 and 2600.You pay 70 usd for 20 % odd performance.Depends on gpu.I perssonally can vote the gtx 1050ti will bottle neck the crap out of a R5 2600.I upgraded to a 1070 ti just cause the 1050 ti held me back.

Well the thing is if I play multiplayer games I don't play them on the highest settings or ultra settings would play my games on low to med just like any other pro gamer would do that’s why im not thinking on upgrading my gpu if I would go for an upgrade ill prob go for a 1650super or a 1660 it depends on the price but do you think it will still be good to buy a 2600x with a 1050ti

Just saying I don’t play my online games on the highest settings I play them on competitive settings which are med to low settings but will it be good to buy a 2600x for a game like rainbow six while using a 1050ti on low settings?

Which online games? No matter how low you go on graphics, the CPU will limit your FPS. e.g. Playing BFV 64 player lags even with a fast 6 core like the 2600X.

Personally I would upgrade the CPU first since you can remove those bottlenecks first, then the monitor. Either way you won't see increased performance until both are updated.
