I'm wondering what I should upgrade first in my gaming pc with black friday coming up?

Current specs:
Ryzen 5 5600x
RTX 3070 FE
Asrock B450M Steel Legend
Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 3200
240gb Kingston SSD
1TB HDD
Coolermaster MWE 650W white PSU

Use it for 1440p gaming as well as 3d modelling work for architecture.
What should I upgrade first? Was thinking about new CPU + Motherboard + RAM, but unsure.

I would upgrade the GPU if you are going to go for 1440p gaming. I don't know your budget, but you also probably need a new PSU as well.

Hey there,

Yes, I'd agree with @Order 66. A GPU upgrade is the right choice here. Your CPU (same as mine) pushes most GPU's at 1440p and above to close on max FPS. Yeah, sure, at 1080p there are faster CPU's that give more FPS.

The GPU issue is harder though. Budget is key here. Good suggestion on the 7800xt. It's a strong GPU for 1440. The 7800xt also has 16gb vram. Much needed for 1440p

I would definitely double the RAM, probably replace the boot drive with a 500GB NVME SSD, change out the 1TB HDD for a 2TB SSD, and likely get a decent power supply thats a little bit higher wattage, 750W or 850W if you're looking to support a high end card. The RTX 3070 is your most obvious upgrade candidate since its 8GB of VRAM is already starting to become a limitation, but its still a strong performer. An RX 7800 XT or RTX 4070 would be an upgrade, but not massive (~30%), in order to get a more meaningful upgrade you would need to get something like an RX 7900 XT, RX 7900 XTX, or RTX 4080, those would double your current gaming performance. For reference your RTX 3070 performs about like the RX 6700 XT or RTX 2080 Super in the article below.
