I am usually playing Fortnite competetive and need to upgrade my pc so i can record my gameplay without any lag.

These are my specs:

AMD Radeon (TM) R9 380 Series
Intel Core i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz
8 GB Ram

Motherboard:
BaseBoard-name: Basiscard
BaseBoard-producent: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. B150M-A

PSU: 500W, psu model nr rs-500-ACAB-b1

What should i upgrade and what should i switch it out with? I really appreciate any help i can get.
Thank you!

Since you want to record your gameplay, at a minimum, I would look at a Ryzen 3600, preferably a 3700x. I do agree that a nearly new system is probably best, though. You might be able to reuse some hardware, to save some money, though, depending on what the rest of your system specs are.

Full PC specs would be helpful.

You could upgrade you CPU to a 6700k and your GPU to whatever falls within your budget assuming your Mobo/PSU will support it.

You would be investing in an outdated platform though, and at this point AMD's new midrange CPU's are very compelling especially for recording and content creation.

What is your budget???

Just updated the thread, what do you think?
You haven't actually included the Motherboard or PSU model.
What ASUS motherboard is it exactly?
What PSU make and model is it exactly?

What do you mean by a new system?
Means a whole new PC basically, but you can recycle older parts such as storage, PSU, case etc.
Based on what I've seen so far, your ugprade options are limited.

Thus why motherboard exact model is needed my friend.

Here's the thing.....you can't upgrade you graphics much at all because your CPU will hold it back.

So I am at least suggesting a new CPU and GPU.

What motherboard do you have?
What power supply do you have?

With that MB....I think the fastest CPU is the i7-7700K which would almost double you CPU speed and allow you to upgrade to the vast majority of GPUs.

So that's as fast as you can go with that MB....but that's a pretty good jump.

You may be able to find a used one at a good price on EBay.

Then....if you decided to upgrade the GPU.....you may need a new power supply.

PSU isn't great quality, and doesn't have a great shelf life so you'd probably want to consider upgrading this soon. It's a budget lower quality line ultimately.

For CPU you could consider upgrading to:
Core i7-7700K (better option)
Core i7-6700K

They'll both give you the added benefit of 4 more threads and should be a decent improvement over the 6400.

Gaming and streaming on the 7700K is still very difficult. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/game-streaming-encoding-coffee-lake-ryzen,5326-4.html At 1080 Ultra the CPU usage in Battlefield 1 was 99.6% To be able to game and stream at the same time you need at least a 6c/12t processor to do it well.

For the new Ryzens you can figure that the 3600 will have about the same performance as the 8700K.

Absolutely agreed. I know many who use 2 different systems for streaming usually.

I have already advised that a new system is likely. Just throwing out options to consider if OP really can't make the jump to a new platform.
