Hello guys

My current system is
I7 6700k
Gtx 1080 ti
2x8gb 2666 ddr4
512gb samsung 970 pro
1tb wd black
1tb wd gold
Xfx pro edition xxx 850w psu

And 450 000 huf (about 1500usd) to spare

As i see i could upgrade my gpu (to gtx 2080 ti)
Or the rest (cpu mobo ram)
I think i will be a bit bottlenecked whatever way i go

Right now im most held back by the gtx 1080 ti (based on msi afterburner usage)

I play at 1440p 144hz
And gaming is the only performance usage of my pc
I dont record or edit anything

Thank you for your help :)

Solution
i can afford the 2080 ti and without having to sell my gpu
so maybe?
buy a 2080 ti

sell the 1080 ti i7 6700k ram mobo
and buy like a r7 3700x and compatible mobo and ram from that money?

is the r7 3700x a good pair with the 2080 ti for gaming only?
i have a friend who has this cpu but he is also recording for youtube i dont do that

is there a noticable difference between
1080 ti + i7 6700k and
2080 ti + r7 3700x in 1440p?
Yes for all of it. If you can afford the RTX 2080 ti why not although probably will the the RTx 2080 super be good too.

Also if you can sell your old parts and get the 3700X with a decent motherboard plus some nice 3600mhz ram yes go for it. And yes that is better than what you have now.
I would first go to an 8 core 16 threads CPU or at least 6 core, that older 4 core is going to bottleneck you long before the 1080ti which is very much still an awesome GPU.

Think about a Mobo and Cpu change like a x470 or x570 with a Ryzen 3600 in.... then the 1080ti can really strch it's legs....

Cheers

Hmmm...
Thank you
I have the budget for something better than the r5 3600 thou
The r9 3900x can also fit in my budget
Or the i9 9900k this is better than ryzen or so i heard

But i find this a bit strange thou
Since in the games i play the gtx 1080 ti reaches 100% usage while the cpu does not (except in ac origins and odyssey) not even for 1 core

Also i dont think the 3600 offers a better /core performance than the i7 6700k by a margin that would justify an upgrade
But i would love to hear your opinion on this ;)

I had no idea your budget was a nice one, many ask here for the best bang for your buck solutions....but....

If it is pure gaming then the i9 9900K will be around 5% faster than the R9 3900x so not alot really for pretty well the same price. But it smashs the quad core you have now. The RTX 2080ti is a monster, but a very expensive one for the amount of real world gain. On many games not more than 15-20% more fps over what you have, and I'm assuming you have a something better than a 60hrz 1920x 1080 screen that may be worth 1.300+€.

My personal opinion is the I7 6700k will reach the end of it's capabilities before the 1080ti.

1440p 144hz btw

based on my knowledge of pc hardware i would look for a new cpu before a gpu too

However based on the numbers i see in hardware testing
i think every sign points to me being gpu limited

gpu is 100% usage cpu is 30-50ish%
gpu is 80C cpu is 40C
if i oc the gpu i get a bit better performance
if i oc the cpu literaly no difference

i can afford the 2080 ti and without having to sell my gpu

or is the i7 9700k better?
this is more expensive here by about 20% compared to the 3700x but imo is the better choice for gaming
is it 20% better thou?
not so sure :/

I admit I am a generation skipper when it comes to hardware, I have a Ryzen 2700x paired with an RTX 2080 OC from Asus, so I will skip the 3000's and wait for the 4000 Ryzen to get a bigger jump in preformance so to speak. I see your reasoning behind the GPU first but unless Ray-tracing is someting you want NOW I personally would up the nunber of cores first.... new games are getting quickly into min 6 core territory.

That's what I would do and remember your "old" 1080ti is somewhere between a RTX 2070 and the RTX 2080 so it 'aint clapped yet :p

oh im very much a generation skipper when it comes to cpus xD

i went from the athlon 2800+ (from like 2002) to the i7 in 2015 xD

i really dont like changing motherboards xP

this also means that i still had an agp card in 2015
its pretty slow so i had to upgrade for starcraft 2 xP
