My system is as follows:

AMD Ryzen 3 3200g
ASUS R9 280x
A320M HDV R4.0
16GB 2400MHz RAM
550W Corsair 80+ Bronze
Samsung PM961 256GB nvme
Barracuda 500GB 7200RPM
Samsung 1000GB 7200RM

For the games I play I get around 80 FPS. I do edit video occasionally, and my pc does mostly fine, though it’s sometimes laggy.

I have done a few benchmarks and they all say that my GPU is the weak point in my system. Black Friday/Cyber Monday are coming up, so just wondering what I should go for if I do upgrade.

I got the R9 280x for only $3 at a thrift store and it has no problems as far as I can tell. It works great. If I do upgrade, I’ll be putting it in my parent’s old computer or give it to a friend for his office pc.

Thanks in advance!

Another thing is that more vram doesn't always mean better, for example I have an RX 580 with 8GB of vram and there is the RTX 2060 which has 6GB of vram. That doesn't mean the RTX 2060 is worse, it'd only be worse than the RX580 when a program/game is using a significantly higher amount of vram than 6GB the amount it has. The RTX 2060 has significantly faster Vram as well. I know it's not a fair comparison lol but It's a good example. But generally 6GB of Vram or more is sufficient.

Well ya learn something new every day! Also, my budget is pretty tight, thus why I'm waiting for some deals. I wish to spend no more than $100 but that seems like some pretty high hopes from what I've been looking around at
Alrighty! I'll find you a good upgrade that can fit your budget. ha ha ha nevermind I just checked some prices and yeah there isn't anything that's more powerful for 100bucks.

Yeah 🤷‍♂️

This video ↴ doesn't have the 5500xt vs the r9 380x, but it does have it with the rx 580 which is like the 5500xt but just with a lower average fps.

There are a few cards that are cheaper than this one, but are significantly weaker.

All of this info is to help you decide whether or not it's worth upgrading to that card or not lol.

If you wanna reduce your lag without greatly affecting visual quality. turn down of off settings like these, Effects medium or low, shadows low or off, reflections off, render distance set that to medium. Those are some things that can help. Settings render resolution to 90% can improve performance without a significant impact on visual quality as well.
