Hi all,

I have been recently looking to upgrade my computer, but really don't know where to start. I was thinking of getting a new powersupply, but I'm not sure what certification to get (how much does that matter?) or what wattage to get.

Currently, I only really use the computer for games, school (uni), and some light graphic design work. The hardest to run game I play would probably be rainbow 6 siege or pubg, which I run all on low and sometimes at a lower resolution. But looking to pick up monster hunter world when it comes out.

I've also been wondering if I could utilize a 144 hz monitor with another 60 hz monitor not really sure if that changes much but any advice is appreciated

So the question is, is it worth it to upgrade a different part other than the psu first, or should I not bother with the psu until I get a better motherboard. Really not sure where to go with this, sorry it's kind of a scattered post, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Solution
Definitely PSU first. A 650W quality unit should give you plenty of options.

There is a cheaper option of the Corsair TXm, which is also Gold rated. Here is a good thread for the comparison between the TXM, RMx and EVGA G2 PSU.

Then, depending on your budget, you can upgrade the entire system or only your GPU. Contrary to popular belief, the 4690k can still be relevant today and is still a reasonably good chip. If you put a good OC on it, it can do for now.

Right now, GPU prices are retarded, along with RAM prices, due to cryptomining. So that eats a lot into the budget, also note that there is a new GPU release this month so you might want to consider waiting.

Is that 2 x 4GB of RAM or 2 x 8 GB? You wrote (2 x 8GB).

Honorable
PSU, GPU & monitor.

For $50 you can get a seasonic m12 II PSU.
Heres the rub with monitor - recommend a large 32" 1440p monitor. You need a powerful GPU to run it but itll be the best thing you ever do with your pc. Its what we look at. The box just drives the monitor.
Recommended GPUs - 980, 980ti, 1070, 1070ti, 1080, 1080ti

16:9 is much more practical for other pc use such as web, videos & work. also much more compatible for games. (not all work with 21:9).
the only Gsync 32" 16:9 monitor i know of is an acer or asus- cant rememeber but their monitor quality control isnt very good and its very expensive. 1K+
If youre happy with 60hz - i recommend the samsung s32d85t (aka LS32d85) its on amazon for only $384. Top notch picture & quality control. Repeat, the best thing you can do.

Also much more screen area than 21:9 look here: http://www.displaywars.com/32-inch-16x9-vs-32-inch-21x9

You CPU is fine for now. Regarding ram, its crazy expensive right now and has been for past year. Just close all programs before you run a game. Again, get the monitor and gpu pair. Every other system you encounter from then on will be sub-par in comparison.
