My pc:

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB GDDR5
RAM - 2 x 4GB DDR3
PSU - 550w

Options:
1.upgrade the GPU
- a.1060 3g
- b.1060 6g
- c.whatever you think
2.upgrade the CPU
- a.Ryzen 5 1600
- b.Ryzen 5 1600x
- c.i5 8600k
- d.whatever you think
3.both

What do you think I should do?
I can afford both but I would like to save as much money as I can.
Thanks ahead for the help.

Personally, I like one big upgrade. It is much more noticeable and satisfying. I'd do both.

I'd do a GTX 1060 6GB or Rx 580 8GB with a Ryzen 5 2600. Whichever GPU is cheapest.

With the GPU. If you are planning on getting a new monitor soon. 144hz Freesync (AMD) is much cheaper than 144hz GSync (nVidia). Giving the Rx 580 8GB a considerable value increase.

A GPU will give you higher performance in games than the CPU.
Don't bother with the 3GB variant. It's OK, but as games become more demanding, they will require more VRAM.

As for the CPU upgrade, Intel is slightly faster than AMD. But that's about a 10-15% difference.
AMD might be cheaper.

I guess the main use of your PC is for games. Then to improve the gaming experience you should improve the GPU. Improving the CPU without changing the current GTX 1050 GPU will only give you a tiny improvement.

Then go for GTX 1060 6G.

Your current CPU can with the GTX 1060 6G in most games. In some very dependent cpu may cause a bottleneck.

Changing the cpu will mean changing mobo and RAM to DDR4. Do it only if you really need it, if the games you use are CPU dependent and find a bottleneck.

Now Ryzen 5 1600, Ryzen 5 1600x, I5 8400 are enough for a GTX 10060 6G. Unless you go for a GTX 1070 you don't need a I5 8600K
