EVGA 550 gold power supply
Windows 10 pro 64 bit

Lately when I run Fortnite, there has been a lot of lag, and frame rate drops from 80, to like 20 fps, and the loading screens occasionally take a very long time to load. I was curious if this was do to me not having enough ram, or the GPU. (I am somewhat confident it is the second one) However I wasn't sure if it was do t there not being a lot of ram, because I know some games like PUBG require a lot of RAM to load textures. Anyway, please respond ASAP with an answer.

Thanks

You have enough ram for Fortnite. Besides possible issues on their end, that RX 550 is not really a gaming card. I mean, it's not terrible but consider the RX 560 to be the entry level gaming card. I'd try running at 720p for now. So if you're into AMD you're looking at a 1024 stream processor 560 or a 570 as possible upgrades, depending on how much of an upgrade you want. Or a 1050 to 1060 on the Nvidia side.

More RAM is always nice but I think a better GPU will make a much more noticeable difference. A GTX 1050 Ti is a nice budget card that is a step up from your RX 550. A RX 580 or GTX 1060 would be a great upgrade if you can squeeze them into your budget though.

Yeah, I am also looking at upgrading to either an asus strix or evga SC 1070 card, or even a 1070 founders edition, but I don' know what to get. Which card should I get?
