CPU: I5 7500
Ram: 8gb 1066mhz ram
MB: ASUS Prime b250m-k
GPU: GTX 1060 3 gb
2x 240gb ssd

Im currently using a 60hz monitor, but i look to upgrade to a 144hz

If the aim is to run the latest AAA games at over 100 FPS then you are probably best looking at a complete rebuild of cpu/motherboard/RAM/GPU and possibly PSU. We will need a budget. Your current system is reasonably balanced for 1080p 60Hz and upgrading only 1 or 2 parts is going to leave other components limiting the gains.

what is the speed your ram can run at? I.e Mines 3200Mhz, are you able to overclock your ram?

Your system is perfectly balanced for 1080p 60 fps. What you can upgrade gtx 1060 3 gb to 6 gb. Add one more stick ram. Maybe change psu if it's bad quality. For 144 hz you need new system.

Why would he do that? That is just spending money for 3gb of Vram which at his resolution probaly don't matter that much.
