Current build:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K CPU
GPU: Radeon R9 290 gigabyte windforce
Motherboard: GA-Z97M-D3H
RAM: 2x8 GB

I use it for gaming, I need some FPS improvement, mostly playing PUBG atm;

For your game, you should upgrade the GPU first, like gtx1070, or even the gtx1080, or gtx1080ti, etc. because the r9 290 = gtx1060. Keep in mind the i5 4690K may or may not bottleneck for your game, after you upgrade the gpu.

And next if you play the game in 1440p, and you will need to upgrade the cpu too, because 1440p is a much more CPU intensive.

Could well be i'm wrong,but if you up the resolution is the gpu becoming more the bottleneck and will the cpu have less stress?

Don't play PUBG so cannot say what it means for this specific game.Hmm and checked looks like it makes use of more cores if available,

although this is a very high end cpu where cores were shut down so cache might play a role as well.It in the end is depending on monitors refresh rate as well.

I'm with the gpu as first upgrade as well btw.:) The cpu could still be a little overclocked for some extra performance.

That's what I was going for, the GTX1080. But it's around 550€, and it's hard to see my R9 go to waste...
I'm thinking I can get around 250€ for it, right?
