What size / freq memory to buy for gaming PC ?

Hello,
I m building a gaming PC and this is what I have so far :

Gainward nVidia GeForce GTX570

Intel Core i7 3930K 3.2GHz Box BX80619I73930KSR0H9

motherboard ASROCK X79-EXTREME4-M

I was thinking to buy either a 16GB memory at 1600 or an 8GB one at 2200
Which one is a better choice ?
Are there any better options in the same price range ?
