What sockets should I plug memory in to?

Recently redid my pc and I can't figure out which two sockets is best to put my 2 ddr3 4 gig sticks of ram into. This is the mobo https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-970A-DS3P-rev-10#ov
It's the Gigabyte 970A-DS3P v1

I just want to make sure. Let's say the memory sockets are 1,2,3,4, my friend suggested I install them in 2 and 4 because I had my cpu fan overhanging socket 1. According to the manual it looks like it should be 3 and 4 if that's the case, just want to make sure. Thanks!

According to the manual if theyre the same brand and speed they go in 3_1 and 3_2

Install the ram in socket 1 and 2. This would be the closest white and blue dimm sockets to the power connector (on the motherboard)

Dual Channel Memory Configuration
This motherboard provides four DDR3 memory sockets and supports Dual Channel Technology. After the memory is
installed, the BIOS will automatically detect the specifications and capacity of the memory. Enabling Dual Channel
memory mode will double the original memory bandwidth.
The four DDR3 memory sockets are divided into two channels and each channel has two memory sockets as following:
Channel A: DDR3_2, DDR3_4
Channel B: DDR3_1, DDR3_3
Due to CPU limitations, read the following guidelines before installing the memory in Dual Channel mode.
1. Dual Channel mode cannot be enabled if only one DDR3 memory module is installed.
2. When enabling Dual Channel mode with two or four memory modules, it is recommended that memory of
the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used and installed in the same colored DDR3 sockets for
optimum performance. For optimum performance, when enabling Dual Channel mode with two memory
modules, we recommend that you install them in the DDR3_1 and DDR3_2 sockets.

My new cpu cooler is making it really difficult to install the ram in 1, would it be a huge deal to move it to dual channel B of 3+4?

The one closest to the CPU is slot 4. Read my previous post.

I think I have them in the right sockets then according to what you posted. Sorry for the blurry picture but I plugged my pc back in and it's at a hard to get to area. I'm terrible at reading the mobo manual so just want to dumb it down. If the ram is labeled 1,2,3,4 and 1 is closest to the cpu I installed them on 2 and 4. Thanks for you help, I do highly appreciate it!
