What sort of anti-virus should I get?

I'm building my own PC, I have win7 pro as an OS. I'm not quite sure what sort of antivirus software I should get, or if it's even worthwhile? (First build, sorry lol.)

I'll be doing a lot of gaming through Steam and moderate internet use (Google, Facebook, Youtube, the usual stuff.)

Feedback is highly appreciated, thanks in advance!

I'd at least get one of the popular free ones:
Microsoft Security Essentials
Avast!
AVG

My personal preference is MS Security essentials. It's lightweight and decent, but many swear by Avast as well. Haven't used AVG in a while but it still gets decent reviews.

Avira's free version is also not bad - but you have to workaround its pop-ups if you don't want to buy it. That being said, I am using ESET Smart Security.

You certainly don't want anything from Symantec's notorious resource hogs.

I've used ZoneAlarm for years and haven't had any problems.
