What specs do I need to edit

I currently have a PC :
FX-6300
GTX 970
1TD HD

I noticed that in Sony Vegas when editing I couldn't preview the video at any quality without frame drops, what the weak link, I've been thinking about going to skylake 6500 would this solve my problem if not,
Help with cherries on top

For any real reply, you'd have to list the specs of ALL the parts.
RAM, PSU, etc, etc.
