What SSD can fit in my laptop?

I'm going to upgrade my 5400RPM HDD to an SSD.

I've read that not all SSD will fit with certain laptops, is that the case with mine?

Any standard 2.5" SSD will work in your laptop. And, if you want, you can use 5400RPM HDD as a second internal or external hard drive. For internal, do a search on hard drive caddy. Lots of websites sell them. You will lose your CD/DVD, but you rarely use it anyway. Or, if you don't want to do that, stick it in an external enclosure.

Btw do you have this model currently: Seagate Momentus SpinPoint M8 ST1000LM024 ?

Looks like any 2.5 ssd should fit just fine.

Indeed, in that case woody70's answer is valid, it should have no problem with any SSD up to 1TB or even beyond as far as i can see.

I was thinking about a Samsung 840 EVO.
