What ssd do I need

Solution
Nope, all the current SSD's will be backwards compatible with SATA 2, it'll just run slower. Check out this article from July.

It should give you a good idea of where to start looking for a drive with capacity vs cost. Like I said, I like Samsung, I run a Pro series and an EVO series and I've had no problems with them. If you're in the USA keep in mind Black Friday sales will be happening next month so it may help for getting a higher capacity drive for a better price.
Any SSD will be an improvement over a normal HDD in terms of startup and program performance. Personally I'd recommend Samsung Evo series for cost and capacity. However your computer can only run at SATA 2 speeds so your not going to get the best bang for your buck by going with an SSD. Also your going to pay a premium for space with an SSD, so you may want to evaluate why you want one.

Would the fact that my computer can only run at SATA 2 speeds change what ssd i have to buy? Or would all of them work?

They will all work, they are backwards compatible

At least you don't have unrealistic expectations, lol. Personally I would recommend going with a Samsung 840 EVO 240GB or maybe 500GB, but considering the age of your PC and the fact that the motherboard is so heavily restrictive when it comes to ports I would be hesitant to fork out a large amount of cash for an SSD when the PC itself would be better off being upgraded.

Awesome!
Would you recommend any sites to learn about installing the SSD?

One final question! I'm assuming I could have the SSD and my current hardrive at the same time! So install the OS on my SSD and save other stuff to my current harddrive?

Yep, that's what I'd recommend. Make sure you go with an SSD that has enough room for all your programs, room for future expansion and roughly 10% of the room available for TRIM. Use your larger HDD for storing images, documents, music, videos, etc. Just make sure you have your installation media, OS and software keys lined up before doing any reinstalls.

Your case has just enough room to hold two internal hard drives, but you'll likely need a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter for your SSD to fit in to the drive may.

You can get SSDs for $60 & $70 if you look. As others have answered, they are backwards compatible, so any drive you get should work on your SATA II machine. People have recommended the Samsung 840 EVO, which is a fine SSD, but don't forget to apply the patch that was just released. That drive could lose performance over time, otherwise.

The Samsung 840 Pro is a better option, but it is closer to $100 for the 128GB model.
There is currently an Intel 256GB at Newegg for $109 ($99 with code). This is a nice brand, but apparently a slower drive. Which I guess means instead of "really super fast", it's just "super fast".

I looked at your system and I have a suggestion. My guess is you're working with 2 or 4 GB (I don't see it on your spec sheet), but I do see you can max it out at 16GB. I would suggest getting a budget SSD, like a Sandisk, OCD, or something... and also upgrade your memory.

I would suggest at least 8GB, which would mean 2x 4GB DDR3, and your board only reads up to 1333 MHz, so get 1333 MHz or higher, if the price is right.

Is 8 GB necessary? No.... but it can only help.

If you are using the onboard graphics, then I would definitely look into a graphics card for that PCIe 2.0 slot that's available.

Anyway, hope you find what you need.
