What SSD is faster than the Samsung 840 EVO?

Is the Samsung 840 EVO a fast SSD, is it good? Also is an SSD still better than a WD Velociraptor? The main question iis, is the Samsung 840 Evo a great SSD?

theres a few hitting 500+ reads and writes now... now, but if you want real speed you need to look at pci-e ssd'd rather than sata based 1s.

The SATA 3 connection is basically Maxed out at this point. So any current drives being released will have minimal speed differences. I mean, it literally came out less than a month ago and its using a completely new type of Nand. Who knows how much more expensive it is to manfacture MLC controllers with the new Nand compared to the old toggle MLC. Of course prices are still gonna be high.

It is a fast ssd.

It is more than a good ssd. It is an excellent ssd. It has a proven track record. It is the number one best selling ssd in the world.

It is definitely better and faster than a Western Digital Velociraptor hard disk drive.

The Samsung 840 EVO is considered to be a great ssd.

PCIe ssd's are faster than standard SATA 3 6Gb/s ssd's. An example would be the Mushkin Scorpion Deluxe.

M.2 NGFF ssd's are faster than standard SATA 3 6Gb/s ssd's. An example would be the Samsung XP941.

Samsung recently released their brand new 850 PRO. Last week at the Flash Memory Conference in California Samsung finally announced their brand new 850 EVO. Although a release date was not mentioned, the 850 EVO is expected to be released in the very near future.

SR-71 - The Crucial MX100 received favorable reviews. The MX100 is an improvement over the M550 and M500. Yesterday morning OCZ released their new ARC 100 entry level model. I already added it to the ssd database along with links to a dozen or so technical reviews. Some of the authors indicated the ARC 100 was competition for the MX100.
