what stress test can i run to make sure i no bent pins in my mobo?

Solution

I'd forgotten about Aida64 its one of the few that doesn't use the AVX instructions. So yes, if it comes out as stable it would be safe to assume your good.

well i often read threads about people bending pins on accident. and putting their cpu in the mobo. their computer runs, but it dosent run correctly. i also read that some pins are redundent so if you accidently bend a pin it might not matter and the computer will still run

That does tend to happen on occasion. I generally check the fit of the processor and the pins before final assembly, and if there are bent pins I use a mechanical pencil to slide over the pin and carefully adjust it. And if I have any concerns over stability I run Prime 95 or Passmark or 3Dmark. The first 2 are free the third is paid and as far as free I go with Prime 95 as it requires little to no setup to run a stress test of what ever length of time you need.

yeah i wanna run prime 95 but apprently its harmful to haswell processsors. something about voltage spiking

The voltage spiking is a problem with a lot of intel procesors related to the AVX instruction set causing the intel Cpus to boost themselves. The problem is not due specifically to Prime 95 its all stress testing programs that use them by default and the big problem comes around when people are overclocking to begin with and have the voltage cranked up. Overclockers generaly aim for 0.3v or less when upvolting and the only problem most of them report is temeratures. The AVX instructions wont boost the voltage more than 0.2v but if you are concerned about temperatures you can grab another free utility called speedfan to watch the temps and make sure they stay under 72°celcius or 161° Fahrenheit and stop the test if they get there.

Solution
im gonna run aida 64 for a couple of hours. but when i try to stress gpu my mouse lags really bad for some reason, and iv been having having problems with stuttering with games.

im pretty sure i have to rma my gpu. i was actually doing these stress test to make sure it not anything else

When you do a stress test of any sort it will put pressure on your cpu as well and it is quite normal for the mouse to lag or jerk around. but as for the stuttering in games that could be any number of things but the most common is the video cards drivers. sometimes the newest drivers are not the best for some games and grabbing a slightly older set will solve that. But barring the stress test and the drivers working I would say RMA it.

yeah iv already been through like 2 drivers. clean installs and everything. like when i stress the gpu on aida. mouse lags like crazy i cant do anything. but, if i just stress test cpu, fpu, cache, and system memory. its completely fine. my mouse only goes crazy laggy if i stress test the gpu. does the same thing happen to you?

If you don't have much else to do but watch tv 2 hours is a good minimum. 4 hours is optimal just for the fact that is the average amount of time anyone spends really pushing their PC in a day if they work or go to school.

Generally speaking when I run any tests I flip on a show on my laptop or turn on my Ps3. But for the most part the mouse does get laggy or just plain jumps around if the tests are really pushing my Cpu to 100% usage.

perfectly normal from my experience.

I may be sleeping but if I get a post update e-mail i will respond when I get up. And good luck I hope you get the problem sorted out.
