i have a EVGA Z97 Classified 152-HR-E979-KR with no image and a 55 error, which indicates a memory issue or in some places i've read, it means time to replace the MB. i'm trying to save some ca$h, so what MB can i use with the existing processor and RAM that is less than this model?

thanks as always!!!

I believe you mean LGA 1150.

LGA1155 would be Sandy and Ivy Bridge. (2nd and 3rd gen)
LGA1150 is Haswell, Devil's Canyon, and Broadwell (90 series only) (4th, '5th' gen*)
LGA 1151v1 Skylake and Kabylake (6th and 7th gen)
LGA1151v2 Coffelake and Coffeelake Refresh (8th and 9th gen)
LGA1200 CometLake and RocketLake (10th and 11th Gen)

If you do have one of the limited production Broadwell CPUs, it must be H97 or Z97 I believe.

What sort of a processor, rams, GPU and storage layout are you carrying over? If you've got a single GPU layout, you can work with any motherboard from the LGA 1155 platform, meaning you have access to H97, Z97, B85, H87 and Z87 chipsets. Steer clear of the H81 chipset. How much can you splash towards a replacement board? Often times your PSU might be the reason why you need to change the board as well, so a full run down on your system innards would be a very good idea. That way you're not spending money towards older tech when you could easily migrate to a newer platform.
