I recently bought a Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 WindForce 3X OC Battlefield 4 Edition and i've been using it for a while. I've used other higher end AMD cards and i know they tend to get hot. The temperatures i get are 40C - 52C idle, 53C - 70C medium to high load, and up to 90C at full 100% load.
I have 1 intake fan in the front of the case, and one outtake fan for the CPU.(i'm excluding the intake fan of the PSU on the top). Card runs in performance mode. I changed the GPU thernal paste with Cooler Master E1 IC essential paste.
So my questions are, are these temperatures ok, if not what can i do to bring em down, and how can i run the card cooler in general.

Which case do you have?
Like all the big AMD cards the Windforce demands plenty of ventilation, at least two 120mm front fans for intake and a powerful 120mm rear fan for exhaust so it sounds a if the case isn't providing enough airflow to keep the card cool (and 90C is getting hot, my Tri-X OC R9 290 hits 80C under heavy Furmark loads which is warm but acceptable).
Try running with the side panel off to improve ventilation, if the temperatures drop you know where the problem is.

I'm using a Spire Swirl SP-7062B with a 140mm fan in the front under the DVD burner. The case's side door is off and there is nothing to trap air under the card because i removed the hard drive bay. Can the temps get better if i place the side door again?
