What the best cpu coolers. Should i use Water or Fan cooling?

Hey i just recently bought a z170 motherboard with a i7-6700k cpu and i was wondering what would be the best to use. Either water or just air cooling. And of those what are ones to recommend?

Depends on what you want to spend, your case size, etc. A good air cooler can beat out all the cheap water coolers.

Water cooler. Looks cool, can really cool a CPU. Doesn't cool the MB anymore, so you get more heat there. with a big block of copper and fans on the CPU, it by proxy, helps cool the motherboard and RAM a bit too. A water cooler just has a small block to replace all that, and thus, you need good air flow in your case to compensate for that.

I got the Phantom 820 ultra case so i have room and I have roughly $150 in thought for the cpu cooler.

I recently installed a i5-6600K.
I tested overclocking to 4.7 using a small noctua nh-l12 cooler.
It worked so well that I abandoned my intent to use a huge NH-D14.

Sky lake shouldn't need as much cooling as haswell. Big AIOs 240s or 280s are almost certainly overkill. Big air are almost certainly overkill as well. Quiet cooling will be in vogue with the new chips.......
When it comes to coolers, ask 5 people, you'll get 8 answers.....
