Solution
superfetch indexes your hdd so when you search it, the results are faster.

it should not be using a ton of resources all the time though. only here and there as it updates it's index. turning it off really has no effect other than slowing down searches of your pc. note i am not talking about internet searches but rather local searches for files on your pc. if you don't use the search feature, then turning off superfetch can save a bit of resources.not a ton but some anyway.

but as jr9 noted, unless task manager is showing superfetch using a ton of resources, then this is likely not the overall issue.

What exactly is using up all your disk resources? Use Windows resource monitor and go to the disk tab. Sort by disk by total and tell us what exactly is taking up all your disk usage. If it's something like automatic virus scans or large file writes on to your HDD then Superfetch will not help you. Post a screenshot of that disk tab.

Can you actually see Superfetch actually taking up lots of resources like RAM or CPU? If not then forget about it.
