Folks, I was wondering if any of you could help me out. I've had my Radeon 9600P for the last few months and things have been great! My 3DSYS2001 total has been in the low 11000's and life has been pretty good until recently. About 2 weeks ago I reloaded Win2K from scratch and reinstalled all my drivers and since then I've taken a hit of about 5000 points where I'm now bench marking between 6000-6500. Needless to say, I don't know what's gone wrong.

My system specs are as follows XP2400 oc'd to XP2600, 1gb Corsair 2100 ram, 3 hard drives totalling 125gig and my ATI 9600P (made by ATI). Win 2K is updated to service pack 4.

If anyone can help me get things back to normal, i'd be very grateful! Should you need any more info, lemme know...

thanks.

I've never bothered with downloadng 3dmark before. Is it probably a neccessary tool to have around or does it just cause more false panic, worries, and headaches than anything else? I've seen so many people trembling and in a frenzy about 3dmark scores.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

I like to use it. It tells me if I'm stable where I'm at or when I do something to my system. So far I've been able to post my 2500 @ 3200 speeds, but I can't get through 3Dmark. I'd want to do that before I start gaming at that speed. I can hold 2800 speeds & run 3Dmark. So it's a tool for me that I don't mind using. It doesn't cause any other problems in the system. Be sure to get the patches while your at it. I run it first thing on a new system after I get all the drivers loaded as well. Just to check & see everything is all right.

As each day goes by, I hug my 9600Pro just a little tighter.

The scores are for comparison... but they don't work if you've got 2 computers doing 2 different things (say - FX!), so now they're really only for comparison of similar systems, or for yourself (before and after overclocking/tweaking).

You should get them though. The MAIN reason I got them, is not to look at the score, but to gaze at their awesome beauty. 3d Mark 2001 was pretty amazing when it came out, and 3d Mark 2003 is pretty amazing now (despite a few bugs).

It's basically just another demo to show off, if you've got the horsepower:)

Hey Ion, I do have AA and AF off in Sysmark but in the Display properties they are set to 4X AA and 8X AF for both OpenGL and Direct3D... I beleive this is what I had set before... The search for answers goes on...
