what things can i change/fix using regedit?

i was nearly in a panic coz my computer DVD player wasn't working, and regedit fixed it... i was amazed!!!!! just wanting to know, what kind of other problems/programs/restrictions can regedit fix/change??

Can regedit change the internet restrictions on a computer?
