Hello Dear Toms.
I'm building up (or actually just schemming it right now, but i've got most things sorted out) a custom, unordinary desktop out of the Compal JHL90 Notebook.
I'm going to destroy the notebook complately and put it into a custom aluminium case. I've got an ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4670 mxm-ii gddr3 running on this system and x9100 processor. Both of those are overclockable with ease and the main idea behing building the custom case and converting a notebook into a desktop is OC'ing the FSB,CPU and GPU to the fullest.
Here comes the question I cant find answer to - how to cool the Mxm-ii type GPU. I'd like to install a big, copper radiator+fan solution over the GPU while heatsinking the memory heat into another radiator. Everything is fine, but here comes the question :
[TLDR - check here]
Is there any square CPU cooler with Screw hole center distance of 37mm available? Which socket cooler would it be? The MxM-ii card thats installed on this unit have a square mounting point where the center of the screws is 37mm. I'm looking for something like THIS so that I have enough space in the bottom part of the card for installing heatsinks on the memory.
I know this is a strange question, but I'd like to know if there was ever a cooling solution of 37mm made - if not, i'm just going to make it myself out of copper using laser or just drill some holes in available "a bit bigger" cooler. It's lots of work, so I hope there exist any 37mm solution, because the actual x9100 cooling solution togather with the heatsinking of memory on gpu is a lot of work.
Not like i'm lazy, but why re-invent the wheel if theres some ready solution available?
Cheers! ( and all the "omg buy new pc" people - you don't get the vibe )
