hey all this is the current setup i have i am looking to upgrade my GPU and im wondering if there will be any issues with what i currently have, if there is anything i should change please let me know i currently have about 900NZD please check via (http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/)

cpu: i7 2600k @3.4ghz
mobo: gigabyte z68xp-ud4
ram: 4 gb ddr3 1600mhz x2
gpu: AMD radeon HD 6450
hdd:Wd black 1tb
ssd muskin 256gb
psu: 600w (i think)

Depending on what you are going to be doing, you probably do not need a 980, but if your PSU is generic, an upgrade like what was suggested by i7Baby would be good. Ram should be fine. For more overclocking, a Closed loop cpu cooler would probably be the way to go.

how about this http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rls12v24pkr1? and would the asus strix 970 be allright or is there a better one for a better price etc?
 
The Seidon is only a 120mm fan radiator cooler. For an i7, I'd prefer to recommend a cooler with a 240mm radiator. Such as the one I linked to.

The Strix is OK. Just not quite as good as the Gigabyte. And you don't seem to have the MSI Gaming version at all in NZ according to PartPicker.
