Hi guys, im about to finish my own build this is what i got
CPU: 17-4770k
PSU: Corsair HX 750
MOBO: Asus Maximum VI Hero
RAM: 2x 4gb G.Skill sniper
STORAGE: SSHD Seagate 1TB
CASE: Corsair 500D

i need a graphics card for 3D modelingand rendering, such as 3D Max and Maya, and video editing(Premiere, and also After Effects)and ovbiously some gamming.
I was going to buy the GTX 760 but, i was not sure since ATI release them R9 series and i watched the R9 280x and notice its better than the 760 so far.

The thing is that i like nvidia a lot cause of the phys x and other stuff, and i dont know why in the benchmarks the nvidia cards always get low scores on LuxMark???

I need to choose between the gtx 760 and the R9 280x and know why i will chose the right one
((Also i just saw nvidia will be giving free assasins creed black dearest comrade and splinter cell black list when buying a gtx 760, maybe this is cause they know ati its doing so good?))

if some expert answers this i will be so thankfull cause i can decide myselft since i dont know a lot about this new gpus
Thanks!!

R9 280x has a competition with gtx 770 , not the gtx 760. R9 280x is just another hd 7970 with some performance tweaked. While the R9 270x is a tweaked version of hd 7870 which performs similar to a gtx 760.
R9 280x ~ hd 7970 ~gtx 770
R9 270x ~ hd 7870 ~gtx 760

While there is a difference of about more than a hundred dollar between gtx 760 and R9 280x. That means R9 280x is expensive.
If you want to save money than can choose gtx 760 but R9 280x is recommended for you.
I'm no expert, but newer GPUs are what I know most about. The 760 is rather mid-range. So depending on how heavy your editing/gaming will be, I'd recommend taking it a step further and going with the 770 or the new AMD R9 280X. Now, the 770 might be a bit better as far as editing goes, but the 280X will have an edge in the gaming area. The 280X slightly beats out my HIS IceQ x2 7970, which is still a rather strong single card. Again, I'm no expert. But that is my two cents. Or if money isn't much an issue...grab that sexy 290X. :O

Okay so benchmarking software... what a load of bollocks. Last time i checked people don't play benchmarking programs. The general public seem to play actual games 😛 So ignore those scores.

To be honest i'd probably go with nVidia as well.. I do 3D Modelling and animation and very little video editing. And the CUDA Cores are a bunch of little dreams when it comes to converting videos to other formats, it's real quick. So that's a plus for me and possibly you!

It also seems that the R9 280X is the equivalent of the GTX 770 (ish). So maybe when these cards are genuinely released hopefully nVidia will change their pricing strategy and lower everything. So the 760 will be cheaper as will the 770! But as it is now according to benchmarks the r9 280X is the faster card over the 760.

As for the games being included that'll be for the promotion of the cards as devs hook up with nVidia, it's an incentive to buy. Like the AMD Gaming Evolution i think it's called!

Give it a few weeks and wait until the R9 series is released, and nVidia will most likely drop their prices.

Do you actually see any 'PhysX' Features though. You can probably enable but you probably might not get the benifits? Do you get all the particle effects. And physicle damage and particles bouncing after you shot the floor and stuff? (metro last light is a good example) Same with planet side 2.. I think that has PhysX. Anyways.. xD I'm just curious.

I quite like PhysX as well. Love the detail and stuff. But PhysX too my knowledge is an API only for nVidia cards.
